Adolescent Therapy

adolecent therapy

As children start their transition into adulthood, it is common for their moods, behaviours and relationships to change as they begin to form their identities by exploring new ideas, roles, friendships, and activities. Although this is an exciting time, it can also be stressful and disorienting, leaving some teenagers feeling sad, angry or overwhelmed. It’s not uncommon for adolescents to need help dealing with relationships, emotions, family problems or school stress.

Teens do not engage in therapy the same way adults do. Often they are hesitant to talk about their feelings and resist the influence of adults. They just want to talk in a normal, natural way and respond well to active, authentic and respectful conversations. Meeting adolescents where they are at and trying to understand their perspective as best we can helps the therapists at Paradigm Psychology form collaborative and supportive relationships that are the basis for positive change.
